The Malta Chamber of Geologists holds affiliations and works closely with the a number of national and international groups.


European Federation of Geologists (EFG)

The Malta Chamber of Geologists is a member of the European Federation of Geologists. The EFG promotes excellence in the application of geology in Europe. The MCG delegates to EFG are: Peter Gatt, Christopher Gauci and Paul Grech.


The MCG participates in the following EFG bodies:

  1. Panel of Experts on Geotechnics

  2. The Future of European Geologist Working Group.

International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS)

The International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), promotes and encourages the study of geological problems, especially those of world-wide significance, and supports and facilitates international and interdisciplinary cooperation in the Earth sciences. It encourages international co-operation and participation in the Earth sciences in relation to human welfare and is a member of the nternational Science Council (ISC).

Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA)

The Malta Chamber of Geologists participates in National Committees involving geomaterials and engineering geology administered by the MCCAA (Standards Authority of Malta)

Commission for Voluntary Organisations

The Malta Chamber of Geologists is registered as a professional association with the Commission for Voluntary Organisations. VO No. 2329

European Committee for Standardization

The Malta Chamber of Geologists participates in CEN Technical Committees on aggregates and geotechnical testing.
