The European Federation of Geologists has identified three sectors of activity where Geologists all over Europe are engaged:

1. Geoenvironment: includes applications to groundwater contamination, rock instability and Climate Change

2. Energy & Georesources: transition energy sources, geothermal energy, mining and quarrying

3. Construction : rock excavation, Quarrying, Geomaterials.

The Malta Chamber of Geologists is encouraging the modernisation of three sectors in Malta with the involvement of Geologists.
